Psychic Abilities

Psychic abilities are exercised by consuming will points of varying levels. A ability can require one or more will point to be utilized, and performing it consumes those will points until the creature completes a long rest. They can also restore up to one will point of their desired level during a short rest. An ability can require will points of multiple levels to be cast. An ability can be performed using higher than required will points which allow it, in many cases, to have a greater than normal effect. When doing so, all required will points must be increased in level by the same amount.

There are 5 levels of will point. Level 1 will points are available at first level. Level 2 at 6th level, level 3 at 11th level, level 4 at 16th level, and level 5 at 21th level. At 26th level, the player unlocks 3 legendary psychic points. These can only be used for upgrading abilities, no abilities have them as a minimum required will point cost. Players only ever get 3 legendary will points unless directly stated elsewhere. The number of will points a creature possesses can be determined by consulting either the formula below, or the table beneath it.

C(N) = 2(L - (F(N) - 1))
L = Current player level
F(N) = Player level where you first acquired that level of will point
C(N) = Number of will points at level N

Styles of Psychic Abilities

Psychic abilities fall into a variety of styles. These styles do not, on their own, offer any mechanical impact, however they may be referenced in other game rules or features.

  • Astral Contact: The ability to connect with, channel and enter the Astral Plane.
  • Dreamwalking: The ability to enter the dreams of others or interact within your own dreams.
  • Mediumship: The ability to communicate with spirits and glimpse into the afterlife.
  • Precognition: The ability to see into the future.
  • Psychic Surgery: The ability to heal with your mind.
  • Psychometry: The ability to sense the past, or properties of an object via touch.
  • Pyrokinesis: The ability to control fire with your mind.
  • Telekinesis: The ability to manipulate object with your mind.
  • Telepathy: The ability to read and control minds.
  • Telesthesia: The ability to view and/or sense different items and locations.
